The one-foot rollout is worth about 0.2 s: MotorTrend timed the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach at 1.89 s with it and 2.10 s without, so whether a car is "sub-2-second" depends on the method.

02Worth knowing
What the AIs noticed while building the list.
Tires alone moved the Sapphire from 2.1 s to 1.9 s: Car and Driver's quickest run used optional Pirelli Trofeo RS tires, not the standard Michelins.
Tesla changed its target on reveal day. At the October 15, 2026 event it claimed about 1 s to 60 (a 0.81 s thruster demo) but about 300 miles of range, half of 620, and put production in 2028.
EPA range and highway range differ: the Lucid Grand Touring went 410 miles at 75 mph against a 516-mile EPA rating, and the Model S Plaid went 300 against 368.
Two well-known names miss this list's rules. The Rimac Nevera's 1.74 s came from a Rimac-organized record run, and its EPA range is disputed (287, 205 or 174 mi). The Cybertruck Cyberbeast's 2.6 s has no EPA range rating behind it.
03Questions people ask
What's the fastest electric car?
Among delivered cars with independent tests, the Lucid Air Sapphire and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT tie at 1.9 s to 60 mph in Car and Driver's tests. Rimac claims 1.74 s for the Nevera, but that time comes from its own record run.
Source ↗What is the fastest 0-60 production car in the world?
Rimac reports 1.66 s for the delivered Nevera R, verified by Dewesoft at a run Rimac organized. The quickest time in an independent magazine test is 1.9 s.
What is the fastest 0-60 production car in America?
Among independently tested EVs it is the Arizona-built Lucid Air Sapphire, which tied Car and Driver's record at 1.9 s and reached 100 mph in 3.9 s.
Source ↗Why do 0-60 times for the same car differ?
Car and Driver subtracts a one-foot rollout of about 0.2 s, and surface preparation and tires add more variation. The Model S Plaid ran 2.1 s for Car and Driver and 1.98 s for MotorTrend on a prepped surface.

In plain words, no formulas.
1The question
Top 10 Electric Cars That Reached Customers While the Roadster Waited
2Why this topic
Readers get speed, usable range and actual availability together, which no acceleration or range table provides.
3Where it applies
Performance EVs delivered to U.S. customers
4What we looked at
- Require a confirmed customer delivery, an EPA range estimate and an independent 0–60 mph test.
- Judge speed and range together against Tesla’s published Roadster targets; show price and first delivery year.
- State whether each acceleration result uses a one-foot rollout.
- Tesla — The published Roadster targets: 1.9 s to 60 mph and 620 miles of range. As of October 2026 no customer has received a car and the Roadster has no EPA rating.
- Car and Driver — Instrumented 0–60 mph times with a one-foot rollout subtracted (about 0.2 s), plus range in a 75 mph highway test.
- MotorTrend (via Carscoops) — A second independent instrumented 0–60 test, quoted with and without the one-foot rollout.
- U.S. EPA — Combined range estimates for each model year and configuration (wheels and tires change the figure).

What Claude noticed
Two delivered cars already reach Tesla's 1.9 s target on paper. Car and Driver's rollout-adjusted 1.9 s for the Taycan Turbo GT and MotorTrend's 1.881 s for the Air Sapphire on track tires both match it, but neither goes beyond about 427 miles (the Sapphire's EPA figure), so the 620-mile half of the promise is out of reach.
Rollout can move the headline by about 0.2 s. MotorTrend gave the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach 1.89 s with rollout and 2.10 s without, so a 'sub-2-second' car depends on the method.
The Roadster's own promise moved on the day of the reveal. Tesla's page says 1.9 s and 620 miles, while TechCrunch reports the Oct 15, 2026 event showed about 1 s and 300 miles, with a 2028 build date.

It beat its own EPA number at 75 mph — 330 real-world miles — while doing 3.1 seconds to 60, the sensible middle of the Roadster gap
Source ↗ - 9Pininfarina Battista (2022)
Same Croatian bones as the Nevera, claimed 1.86 seconds to 62 mph and 310 miles — but its numbers are manufacturer claims, not an independent C/D test

The slowest car here at 4.1 seconds still posts 251+ EPA miles for about $100k — proof the Roadster's gap is mostly a battery problem

What MiMo noticed
Only one delivered car on Earth matches the Roadster's 1.9-second target and still cracks 400 EPA miles: the Lucid Air Sapphire. Everything else is either as quick but half the range, or long-legged but a second slower.
Tires alone moved the Sapphire from 2.1 s to 1.9 s — C/D's 2024 car on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S was two-tenths slower than the 2025 car on $2900 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS Elect rubber. The 'fastest' number is partly a tire purchase.
C/D's 75-mph highway loop routinely undercuts EPA range: the Model S Plaid managed 300 real-world miles against 368 EPA. The rare exception is the Taycan 4S, which did 330 miles against a 295-mile EPA estimate.
Tonight's Roadster prototype claimed 0.81 s to 60 with SpaceX thrusters — but Tesla simultaneously quoted just 300 miles of range for the 2026 design, half the 620 miles promised in 2017. The speed claim rose; the range claim fell by half.

- 1Lucid Air Sapphire (2023)
The only car that covers both Roadster promises at once: 2.1 s tested to 60 and 427 EPA miles — 69% of Tesla's mythical 620 — in a sedan delivered two years ago.
Source ↗ - 2Tesla Model S Plaid (2021)
Tesla already sells the Roadster's party trick for $89,990 — a 2.1 s tested 0–60 — while Founders Series depositors wait out year nine.
Source ↗ - 3Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (2024)
The quickest car C/D has ever tested — 1.9 s, matching the Roadster's headline number — but its 276-mile EPA range is barely 44% of Tesla's 620-mile promise.
Source ↗ - 4Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance (2021)
The range king of the Roadster era: 471 EPA miles — the closest any delivered car has come to 620 — and it still does 2.6 s to 60.
Source ↗ - 5Audi RS e-tron GT / RS e-tron GT Performance (2021)
Porsche-grade pace at an Audi price: the 912-hp 2025 Performance matched the Plaid at 2.1 s, then beat its own EPA rating on the highway — a rare feat.
Source ↗ - 6Porsche Taycan Turbo S (2020)
Proved the Roadster's numbers were beatable before it existed — 2.4 s tested in 2020 — though its 192-mile debut EPA rating is EV folklore (real-world drivers see ~278).
Source ↗ - 7Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast (2023)
A 6,900-pound stainless pickup that matches a Lamborghini Huracán STO to 60 — 2.6 s — though its 301-mile claim wilted to 250 at 75 mph.
Source ↗ - 8Lucid Air Touring (2022)
The efficiency play: 3.0 s to 60 with 425 EPA miles for about $80,000 — the best speed-per-dollar and range-per-dollar on this list.
Source ↗ - 9Rivian R1S Tri-Motor (2024)
A seven-seat family SUV that ties a C8 Corvette to 60 (2.8 s) and still goes 371 EPA miles — the sensible-shoe hypercar.
Source ↗ - 10Tesla Model 3 Performance (2024)
The cheapest ticket to sub-3-second speed: $49,990 and 2.8 s tested — a third of the Roadster's announced base price, delivered years ago.

What Kimi noticed
At last night's reveal (Oct 15, 2026) Tesla demoed 0–60 in 0.81 seconds with cold-gas thrusters — but quietly cut the range target from the 620 miles promised in 2017 to 'over 300 miles,' and pushed production to 2028.
The one-foot rollout is worth 0.2–0.3 seconds: C/D subtracts it, Tesla's advertised times exploit it. That's the whole gap between the Plaid's marketed 1.99 s and its tested 2.1 s.
EPA range is a lab number; at a sustained 75 mph the R1S Tri-Motor's 371-mile rating became 250 miles, while the Audi RS e-tron GT Performance actually beat its rating (280 vs 278).
Speed no longer requires hypercar money: a $49,990 Model 3 Performance does 2.8 s, and the quickest thing C/D has ever tested is a four-door Porsche sedan, not a $2M exotic.
