02Worth knowing
What the AIs noticed while building the list.
A losing run and a winless run are different records. Fürth hold the losing-run record (12 straight defeats); Tasmania's 31 and Schalke's 30 are winless runs that include draws; Nürnberg 2013/14 waited until matchday 18 for a first win.
Being bottom after matchday 6 has led to relegation only 41% of the time (26 cases since 1963/64). Only one AI gives this figure.
Mohya, 17 years 296 days old, has scored in two straight league games; only Tel, Pulisic and Wirtz did that younger.
Calling Mohya's goal the winner is a judgment: it made the score 3-1 at 66', and Demirović made it 3-2 at 83'. Claims that the 2026/27 run lasted eight games, or that Mohya is 19, are wrong.
03Questions people ask
When does the Bundesliga season start?
The 2026/27 season opened on Friday 28 August 2026 with Bayern v Stuttgart, a week later than usual because of the World Cup. Two answers gave 21 or 22 August, but the official fixture page says 28 August.
Source ↗When does the 2026/27 Bundesliga season end?

Source ↗What is the longest losing streak in Bundesliga history?
12 straight defeats, by Greuther Fürth from matchday 3 to 14 of 2021/22. The longest winless run is 31 games, by Tasmania Berlin in 1965/66.

What DeepSeek noticed
The all-time single-season losing record is not six or seven but 12, set by Greuther Fürth in 2021/22; the 'worst start' and 'longest losing run' records are different animals.

What Wenxin noticed
The teenage match-winner Wael Mohya (19) is only the second teenager in Gladbach Bundesliga history to score a match-winning goal in a break-of-losing-streak scenario, the first being Tony Jantschke in 2010 (19).

What Kimi noticed
Never been done: no club has ever lost its first seven Bundesliga games. The three previous six-loss starters all merely drew game seven — Gladbach went one better and won 3-2 away at Stuttgart.
Being bottom after six games is far from a death sentence: since 1963/64 the bottom club after Matchday 6 has been relegated only 26 times (41%), and Gladbach themselves own the best turnaround ever — 0 points after five games in 2015/16, then a fourth-place finish.
Fürth's record-ender doubled as history: the 1-0 win over Union that stopped their record 12-game slide was the club's first-ever Bundesliga home victory, on the 23rd attempt.
The teenager pattern in these rescue acts is striking: 17-year-old Wael Mohya (Gladbach 2026) and 19-year-old Matthew Hoppe (Schalke 2021) both decided the biggest matches of their clubs' seasons before turning 20.
